What is youth?

"It is not only a period of life that corresponds to a certain number of years, it is also a time given by Providence to every person and given as a
responsibility.  During that time one searches, like the young men of the Gospels, for answers: one searches not only for the meaning of life, but also for a concrete way to go about living one's life."   Pope John Paul II         

The youth ministry for the Sacred Heart parish, Youth Disciples membership is open to all parish youth in middle school and high school. The full group meets on the first Sunday of each month during the school year for fun, fellowship, and catechesis. The high school group meets each Sunday night in the Sacred Heart Convent.

The Youth Disciples organization is run by a CORE Leadership team consisting of volunteer youth ministers, teen leaders, and directed by Chris and Katy Vander Woude, Directors of Youth Ministry for the parish. The mission of the Sacred Heart Youth Disciples CORE team is to work with parents, youth and the parish community to lead youth to Christ. By helping young people become aware of God’s love for them through our teaching, support and example we will enable them to live, witness and integrate the Catholic Faith into their everyday lives as they become spiritually mature adults.
